British b. 1934
Ray Wooldridge was born in London in 1934 and studied at Camberwell College of Art. He originally began his career as a graphic designer, and later became Art Director of a London design group.
During this time he carried on painting and finally turned professional in 1973. Over the years his work has been influenced by the French and Italian theatre. His exhibition at the Hurlingham Gallery will reflect his impressions from as far abroad as the Carolinas and Tahiti. His work is mainly figurative, romantic, almost verging on the abstract, with a brilliant use of vivid colours which blend harmoniously together.
His work has been widely exhibited in England, on the Continent and throughout the United States. At the Ghent Arts Festival in Virginia, USA, he won the award of honour in 1984. After his exhibition at the Hurlingham Gallery he has scheduled two further one man exhibitions. One at the Delaney Gallery in Perth, Western Australia and another at Le Triangle Gallery in Los Angeles, USA.
