Rowland Hill was born in Belfast on 18th June 1915.
He studied at Belfast College of Art and during his lifetime became well known for his watercolours of his native Irish landscape. He also painted and exhibited many portraits.
He exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy and the Royal Ulster Academy and at one stage during his academic career was curator of art at the Blackpool Art Gallery.
He died in Jordanstown, County Antrim in 1979.
