Brent Redding is a self-taught painter based in Napier, New Zealand, who also works as a muralist and tutor.
He is inspired by light and colour, and paints traditional landscape as well as in a distinctive contemporary figurative style. Many interests appear in or influence his contemporary works: music, poetry, dance, the human condition and a well developed sense of the absurd.
Brent is constantly experimenting and his technique remains fluid. Interests in surrealism, futurism, pop art and other genres may show themselves from time to time, resulting in a sometimes eclectic mix of work.
At the 2004 annual Hawke’s Bay charity wine auction. Brent’s “Red White and Blues” painting was sold for a record price of $26,000 in aid of Cranford Hospice.
