Biography

Stanley Palmer, born in 1936, is a prominent New Zealand artist renowned for his evocative depictions of the New Zealand landscape. Known for his mastery in printmaking and painting, Palmer often incorporates lithography and bamboo engravings in his work, creating textures that bring out the raw beauty of coastal scenes, native flora, and rural landscapes.

 

His work is deeply influenced by his environmental concerns, and he often depicts places with a unique connection to New Zealand’s cultural heritage and natural history.

 

Throughout his career, Palmer has held numerous solo exhibitions across New Zealand and his works are featured in major public collections, including Te Papa Tongarewa.
