This photograph taken by New Zealand artist Grahame Sydney captures the wreck of the Pegasus, a plane that crashed in Antarctica on October 8th 1970. The wreckage remains where it crashed near McMurdoch Station and spends most of the year buried beneath the snow. In Sydney’s photograph the distinctive orange horizontal stabilizer of the C-121 Lockhead Constellation plane is still visible above the snow.
