Dora Wilson is a well respected Australian Painter who specialised in street scenes and nude studies.
Born in New Castle on Tyne, England in 1883 she emigrated with her family as a young child to Australia, where they settled in Melbourne.
Her early art studies were as a pupil of the National Gallery School, Melbourne, from which she left for Europe where she travelled extensively and further extended her studies and refined her already remarkable talent.
She is well known for the delicacy and sophistication of her pastel studies of nudes. Dora Wilson was a foundation member of the Australian Academy of Art. Her works are represented in the State Galleries of Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and the Castlemaine Gallery, Victoria.
