Robert Johnson was born in New Zealand in 1890. He served with the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces in World War I, before relocating to Australia with his wife in 1921.
He became well known for his Australian impressionist-style landscapes and Sydney harbor scenes. His work is represented in major Australian and New Zealand public galleries.
